ABOUT US
We are a new voluntary & experienced venture on the Isle of Man with two aims. Firstly to bring a fresh new range of wargaming experiences to the Douglas/Onchan area (though anyone on the Island is more than welcome to attend).
When we say fresh we are providing a blend of: -
- A. Military Board gaming
- B. Free Kriegsspiel gaming
- C. Miniatures' wargaming
Our second aim is to bring together the various groups and areas of the hobby throughout the Island. We aim to do this by offering the various Groups once a year to "club" together and put on a participation or demonstration game at a joint open day at our meeting location in Onchan. We'll even open it up to gaming clubs and organisations further afield.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Each of our principal members have successfully managed to complete at least 30 years of at least partially successful wargaming across all genres so we have a lot of both playing and organisational experience amongst our numbers.
ACHIEVEMENTS
That doesn't mean we always win. It's just that we have survived mostly intact.
It doesn't mean that we are set in our ways either, at least not totally. We are constantly (often daily) between us buying new rules, new figures and new games.
We have between us run a number of successful participation & campaign games as well as fun mini-competitions.
Much of our initial game plan (subject to change as we settle into a rhythm) is to run 4 x board games interspersed with 2 x tabletop games using miniatures or modified counters.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to bring wargaming, or conflict simulation if you will, to a wider audience. We also want to use it as a tool to assist people, in an enjoyable way to become more capable in the decision making process.
GAME EXAMPLES
We have a range of miniatures available to the club from ancients through to science fiction with several historical periods in-between.
